SOCIAL NEUROSCIENCE AND SOCIAL THINKING DEFICITS IN STUDENTS WITH ASPERGER SYNDROME

I completed my Master's Capstone project on the underlying neurological differences in students with Asperger Syndrome and associated surface level social thinking deficits. Throughout my research I was highly intrigued by the brain scan research that indicates structural and blood flow activation differences in social brain areas for students with Asperger Syndrome. As a speech-language clinician, I can not change brain structures or solve the pressing autism puzzle, but I can provide students with strategies to increase their success in the social world around them. The following table features both my capstone paper and presentation as well as a variety of intervention materials.
