Why Education?!?

I find it slightly ironic that I'm going to be a teacher.  Early elementary school was never something I enjoyed.  In fact when it was time to go to second grade, I informed my mother that I was no longer going to school, I would stay home and clean the bathrooms instead.  After second grade, I was transferred to a different school, I was now valued as a student and a person, even a student with a learning disability.  Third and fourth grade my family, teachers, and I worked very hard.  We worked on spelling by doing cheerleading cheers with the words, we worked on taking SODA breaks (Stop, Options, Decide, Act)  with my psychologist, we worked on controlling frustration with drawing, and we reinstated a love of reading by finding books about horses.  It took a lot of creativity, patience and time, but I have become a student who loves learning.  I also have become a person who loves to help others learn.  I love to use creative strategies to help each individual student learn, and have fun doing it.  I have a passion for making my classroom a place where every student feels welcome, valued and empowered each time they walk through the door.

I love to use creative strategies to help each individual student learn, and have fun doing it.  (Even yoga)
