My Educational Background |
|
|
I was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on March
18, 1980. From then on, I attended many elementary schools as a
result of moving often. When we finally moved to Marshfield,
Wisconsin, I was in the last half of 6th grade. I attended Lincoln
Elementary School for the remainder of my elementary experience.

| I began my Wisconsin education when I was in sixth grade at Lincoln Elementary School. I was only here for a half of a year before I attended Marshfield Junior High School. |

Then I attended and graduated from the Marshfield Senior High School. In these years, I attended school for the pure enjoyment of learning. No, seriously, I really liked school. I made friends and began to figure out my strengths and weaknesses and what I wanted to do upon Graduation in May of 1998.From here, I attended the Marshfield Junior High School. This was were I met a large number of my friends that lasted up through high school. I don't remember much from these years except that I discovered that I was actually good at math, contrary to previous experience. |
| I suppose college seems like the obvious choice after college and went to the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh. But I was not ready for education at this level. I met my daughter's father and neglected my studies and decided to take some time off. It was not until September of 2002 that I decided to go back to school. |

I realized that a single parent cannot make it on a high school diploma and wanted better for myself and my daughter. So I decided to attended the two year extension program at the University of Wisconsin-Wood County/Marshfield. Here I began to seek a degree in Elementary Education. After completing 2 years at UW-Wood County/Marshfield I knew I needed to consider a transfer. |
| So in the fall of 2004, I transferred to the University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point. I originally chose this school because I heard the Education Program was good and because it kept me close to home for my daughter. Being here has proven to be a positive and educational experience. Through my teaching experiences, I have learned that education today has changed dramatically since I was in school. Teachers are working with all learning abilities and many learning styles in one classroom. The material to be learned is the same material but is often times modified for students with learning disabilities. This gives all students a chance to succeed and do well. Also I noticed that students do more group learning rather than individual learning activities. This I thought was beneficial because it teaches the students to help others and be respectful of people's differences. Because of the lessons I am learning and will continue to learn, I am sure I made the right choice. |
