Date Thursday June 7th

Art would like everyone to meet about 7 Pm near the island on Big Spirit.

April 15th, 2007

The Awards Banquet is April 28th at Molitor’s in Abbotsford. Cocktails are at 6 PM and dinner will be at 7 PM. There are no banquet tickets, food is ordered by an individual from the menu and paid to Molitor’s.

Raffle prizes have been coming in from various vendors. If you know someone who will donate, bring the donation to the banquet Art will appreciate the help. Raffle tickets will be $5 each, same as last year. Boat raffle tickets have been delivered to Mike Ehlers and will be available at the banquet.

Jeff Schierier, Fisheries Biologist, was able to make the meeting, since our weather was much better. He apologized for not being able to make it to the meeting the month before, but was snowed in like some of us. He was very informative and explained some of the lakes in the drainage work area. One example is how Butternut Lake in Price County has too many muskies. The fish are starting to not reach their potential, because of too many fish per acre.

Dues with Muskies Inc. of Wisconsin and Muskie Alliance of Wisconsin have been brought up to date.

I look forward to a good night of musky talk on April the 28th at the Banquet.

Our next meeting, March 1st, will have a speaker: DNR Fisheries Biologist: Jeff Scheirer.

President Klimpke attended the Spirit Lake Association meeting and received an update on the channel dredging. The amount for dredging the channel will be about $160,000, the state will pay $80,000 for the dredging if the Spirit Lake Association matches with their own $80,000. The association will be accepting contributions and pledges, and plan to hold a musky tournament next year with profit going toward the channel dredging.

The Gill Hamm Memorial Challenge will be on Lake Holcomb, June 13,14, and 15th of 2007. Each club is allowed teams of six members. Central Wisconsin is looking forward to producing one or two teams.

It was decided that we should do something about increasing the membership of our club. One idea, which is going to be attempted, is to put advertisements in the local newspaper.

We have also scheduled the boat for our boat raffle dates, see the Schedule for more details.

Talk about this meeting and ideas about how to increase memberships in the Message Boards.

After pondering for awhile, I decided to change the look of the site. I did this to make the site look more professional and to challenge myself and learn new aspects of web design.

The different sections of the website can be accessed from either the left menu or the menu above, the message boards can be accessed above, on this page only. Also, the last update date is located at the bottom of the page, it will be changed every time I make an update somewhere within the site, there is also a counter at the bottom of the site that shows how many times this site is visited.

Make sure to refresh the site if you are noticing any visual problems, if that doesn't work feel free to Contact Me.

Discuss the new change in the Message Boards.

Hope you enjoy the new look,

Jared Jacobs

Information explaining how to work your way around this site is below this news post.

Now the minutes of our December 4th meeting.

The Awards Banquet will be on April 28th at Molitor's Supper Club, in Abbotsford, same as last year. Cocktails will start at 6:00PM with dinner starting at 7:00PM, mark this on your schedule, and remember to show up, we want to see you there. For our yearly attendance raffle at the banquet we’re going to change to a commemorative Suick as the prize.

Also, at the meeting we again discussed places at which we could sell raffle tickets for the boat. Some of the places were Medford Sport Show and Medford Car Show. Availability and dates are being checked for the car show, if we reach approval with the car club, the date will be the last Sunday in July, the 29th. Our next meeting on January 8th at Happy Joes in Medford will be our last Monday night meeting. Our big brother an Eagle River guide and Muskies Inc. apparel salesman, Art Anderson will be at the meeting to give us his humor and expertise. So lets have a good turn out, he comes a long way from Eagle River to do this for us.

Meetings will be changed to the first Thursday of the month. The Banquet at Molitors on April 28th will be considered as May’s meeting. June, July, and August are our outings, dates and places will be decided later.

Our award maker has been contacted about our ideas about the awards. The awards maker will be able to make the awards the way that Jason suggested. Before ordering awards Jim be contacting the multiple winners to work things out. This will help the club in awards costs.

Standings will be on the website from now on. Jim will do the final standings after the end of the year.

At our September meeting we discussed the notice we received form the International Club which stated that they are thinking of taxing each chapter to fund the international chapter. We decided that our entire membership fee would go to the International Club, if this were to happen. That could be a hardship for a chapter like ours, but we will have to see what the International Club will decide.

It was also brought to our attention that our Big Brother Art Anderson is again responsible for sales of Muskies Inc. merchandise and that he will be coming to visit us during a winter meeting.

Congratulations on your first fish Karen!
