Network Storage Servers - Policies

Your use of your UWSP network storage space (myfiles.uwsp.edu) must comply with the network use policies of the University of Wisconsin System, WiscNet and UWSP.  UW-System is the governing body for all publicly-funded universities in our state and WiscNet is our Internet Service Provider.  Please review these polices:

It is YOUR responsibility to:
  • be aware of these policies.  You should use your server storage space and web site for educational purposes, to help in "selling" yourself to potential employers and/or to contribute to the knowledge base of your intended profession.
     
  • keep backup copies of files you have saved on your server storage space and web site.  You are responsible for backing up all files on your network storage space (myfiles.uwsp.edu). 

Information Technology cannot restore individual files should you inadvertently delete something that is important to you, nor can Information Technology restore individual files if your UWSP account has become inactive.  A convenient and inexpensive way to create backups of your files is to save them to CD-RW's or a key/flash drive.  Computer labs that offer this capability are listed on this web page:  http://www.uwsp.edu/it/labs/hardware/. 

What happens to my network space if I graduate?
If you have officially graduated your network storage space will remain available for one semester beyond graduation.

If you have not graduated, your network space should remain unchanged as long as you are a registered student - which includes semester and summer breaks. However, your network storage space and all your files will be removed if you are not registered for classes.
